AUSSIE HOOPS
Aussie Hoops is our introductory Learn to Play program, designed to nurture the next generation of basketballers. Using a games for understanding approach, where kids learn skills and basic principles of play through fun and engaging games tailored to support development. After the 7-week program, participants are encouraged to graduate to our GameTime program or U8-U12 competitions.
Our Aussie Hoops programs are suitable for children in Kinder-Year 4. We offer two programs for Year 3 & 4 children: Aussie Hoops and GameTime. Aussie Hoops is for beginners, with GameTime being more suitable for children who have completed Aussie Hoops or are already comfortable with ball sports. One of the unique components of South Coast Hoops approach to Aussie Hoops is our Gala Day, held at Moruya Showgrounds (Saturday 15 November 9.00am-10.20am), where participants across our three hubs come together for fun games and a modified 5 v 5 basketball tournament.
Here’s what we cover in the 7 weeks, all taught through fun and engaging games.
- Dribbling technique, protecting the ball and weaving through traffic
